History

Just outside the medieval town of Saint-Emilion, half-hour drive northeast of Bordeaux, is a stunningly beautiful winery, which has been called the “Prince of Sandy Gravel” from time immemorial.

The Chateau Martinet sits upon a splendid 25 hectares property located in the heart of the town of Libourne. This 18th century manor is the home of a very special handcrafted wine.

This architecturally unique winery belongs to the de Lavaux family, also the owners of estates in Pomerol, Lalande de Pomerol, Fronsac and co-owners of Chateau Bellevue, Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé.

The family’s involvement in the wine business can be traced back to the eighteenth century with the establishment of the trading company in 1740.
